What We Played #587 – Dead Space, Season & Hi-Fi Rush

We’ve got some of the first big, huge game releases of the year, with Dead Space remake out today, Microsoft surprise announcement-release of Hi-Fi Rush from Tango Gameworks and, of course, the return of the golden child of gaming, GoldenEye 007. There’s bound to be a lot of people checking these out over the weekend, but what about the week that was?
With the DualSense Edge in hand, I spent last weekend flitting between different games while draining its surprisingly small battery. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart for the immersive haptics and trigger use, Modern Warfare 2 and Overwatch 2 for the competitive scene and a few other games that took my fancy – there’s always Halo Infinite on Xbox, for example. With half an eye to the launch of PSVR 2 next month, I’ve been playing Thumper (albeit just on a TV) and downloading some games that will be getting upgrades, for the comparison’s sake. And Dom and I muddled through some more puzzles in We Were Here Forever.
Speaking of Dom, why not start with him? When I haven’t cajoled him into playing games with me, he’s been playing Season: A Letter to the Future for a review that will appear later today, and he immediately jumped into Hi-Fi Rush upon its release, which is a game that’s almost a perfect fit for him.
Tuffcub and I leapt onto a typo in our Slack group and started coming up with game names with hats in them – Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Beanie Machine and Monster Hunter Tricorne were my best, while he…
