The Warriors took the next step in the evolution of their esports efforts, as the NBA team unveiled a new 10,742-square-foot operations facility for its Golden Guardians team, which fields squads in League of Legends (LCS), Apex Legends, Teamfight Tactics and World of Warcraft.
The facility, which was designed by L.A.-based architectural firm Oonagh Ryan, is located in Playa Vista, which is on the west side of L.A. It will house the organization’s esports business office, a training facility for players and coaches, a creative studio and a wellness center.
Warriors execs Brandon Schneider (President and COO), Kirk Lacob (EVP/Basketball Operations and VP/GSW Sports Ventures) and Warriors Head of Esports Hunter Leigh were on hand for the dedication on Wednesday. The facility boasts some of the latest innovations in performance, with players having access to monitoring systems that enable the tracking of player movement tech, which can be used to correct user inputs. Additionally, capturing the on-stage experience while training was a key concept of the facility’s design, as player stations have been built to simulate the layout and experience of a competition.
