The release of indie game Hello Neighbor in 2017 was disappointing, but as reviews drop for Hello Neighbor 2, it seems that reception towards its sequel is even worse. The game follows a journalist who is looking into a case of missing children and specifically, investigating Mr. Peterson, the titular neighbor, who has a history of abducting local kids. The goal of the game is to infiltrate Mr. Peterson’s home and find evidence of his crimes while avoiding the homeowner himself as he attempts to catch you.
It’s worth saying that, while reception for the first game was mixed to negative, Hello Neighbor did fairly well. The series continued with a prequel and a mobile game, plus a virtual reality title that’s currently in development. Along with this plethora of games, an animated series is releasing via YouTube. It’s quite evident that developer Dynamic Pixels and publisher tinyBuild have committed to making the game into a franchise. However, this might change with the hugely negative reaction to Hello Neighbor 2.
