Sony is reportedly blocking several major titles from release on Xbox, including Bloodborne, FF7 Remake, and the upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2.
As reported by Windows Central, this information came to light in Microsoft’s lengthy response to the CMA regarding the company’s planned acquisition of Call of Duty developer, Activision-Blizzard. According to Microsoft, Sony has set up deals with third-party publishers that exclude certain titles from an Xbox release. The company cited Bloodborne, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy XVI, and Silent Hill 2 Remake as “prominent examples of these agreements.”
Xbox and PlayStation’s Fight Over Exclusives
This reveal shuts down many possibilities for future game releases. Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced as a “timed exclusive,” but to date, it has yet to appear on the Xbox platform. The only non-PlayStation platform the game exists on is PC, which saw the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on June 17, 2022. A 12-month “exclusivity window” has also been confirmed for the highly-anticipated Silent Hill 2 Remake, which will launch for both PS5 and PC….
