Eaton 58, Fort Lupton 50, in Eaton: Eaton improved to 2-0 on the season and in its home tournament, the Northern Colorado Roundball Classic. The Reds jumped out to a 26-12 lead in the first half. Fort Lupton trimmed the gap to 38-33 through three quarters before Eaton closed out strongly. Junior Mitch Haythorn led the way with 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Reds. The Bluedevils fell to 0-2.
Windsor Charter 54, Union Colony 24, in Windsor: Windsor Charter improved to 2-1 to cap a busy first week of play. The Firebirds dominated from beginning to end, leading 10-1 after one quarter and 34-9 by halftime. This was Union Colony’s season opener.
Northridge 80, Berthoud 72, in Berthoud: Northridge got its offense going as it picked up its first win and bounced back from a loss three days earlier to crosstown rival Greeley Central. The Grizzlies improved to 1-1 overall. They quickly assumed the lead, going up 24-17 in the second quarter and 42-34 by halftime. Berthoud climbed back, trailing just 59-58 through three quarters, but Northridge closed with a 21-14 run in the fourth. Senior Zach Van Soest led the Grizzlies with 23 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Senior Jackson Jenkins added 10 points and 13 boards.
